I was looking at getting the Godox AD200, but ended up getting the Neewer Q3 instead, for about half the price.
In fact, I’d be very surprised if the Q3 is not as much a direct copy of the AD200 that the company can get away with.
Anyway, it’s a 200W flash with a guide number of 58. It comes with a 3200mAh rechargeable battery and its charger.
It’s 209 × 81 × 55 mm and weighs, without battery, 626 grams.
This is not a flash you attach to your camera. It goes on a light stand or maybe on a tripod.
Not only that, but it is radio-controlled using the QPro trigger, which attaches to the hot shoe on the camera. Then you can control the power of the Q3 from the remote. The QPro is a bit bigger than other remote triggers I’ve seen, but that doesn’t bother me that much.
I have quite some testing left to do, but the idea now if the Q3 works out is to sell the two Nikon SB-900 I have and keep just the SB-700 since it can be used on the camera.
