I’ve been wanting (certainly not needing) an old Nikon DSLR for quite some time. Many years ago I used to have a D90, then a D300, and now I’ve been wanting something like that again. So, when a D80 presented itself at a good price, I got it.

Daidō Moriyama is a Japanese photographer, born in 1938, who is arguably best known for his striking black and white photos of Japan.
Nikon AF-P 18-55mm VR
This is a so-called “kit lens”, meaning it used to come packaged with Nikon cameras. Kit lenses are usually frowned upon as being nothing special, probably because they come packaged with new cameras and therefore are in no short supply.
A favorite photographer: André Kertész
André Kertész is one of those photographers that may not be that well known in the general public, but he’s quite well known among those interested in photography. He has been called “one of the fathers of photojournalism and street photography.”
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G
This is about as close to a nifty fifty you can get on Nikon DX. The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G is a wonderful little lens. It’s sharp, focuses fast and produces lovely colors. That it doesn’t cost a fortune is obviously also a good thing.
