A battery grip is always nice to have, so I got one for the F75.
For a long time, I doubted that there was a battery grip for the Nikon F75 (N75). In everything I read about the camera, I didn’t come across anything about a grip. But then I read something about the MB-18 (not to be confused with the MB-D18), and started looking around.
I could only find two on eBay, so it seems rather rare. But eventually, I gave in and bought one of them.
There’s nothing much to it, really. The main selling point of the MB-18 is that you can power the camera with four regular AA-batteries, so you can make the money back over time. And I have quite a few rechargeable AA-batteries already.
Let’s have a look around the MB-18.
From the top, there’s nothing much to see. Just the screw that attaches the grip to the camera, and the thing that sticks into the camera to give it power. The little battery door on the camera slides right in to a little opening in the grip.
On the left side is only the cover for the battery holder.
And inside the grip, there’s the battery holder, for four AA-batteries.
On the back, there’s only the big wheel with which you secure the grip to the camera.
On the right side, we find the shutter release button and a toggle for locking the button. There’s no control wheel, like on many other grips.
On the bottom there’s nothing apart from the attachment for a tripod.
And that’s it. It makes the camera heavier, but not by that much. And it gives you a better grip to hold on to and a vertical release button. So far, I’m happy.
