Different kinds of photography challenges are popular, at least publishing about them. There are the ones where you should shoot one year with only one camera and one lens, there are the take-a-picture-every-day-for-a-year ones, and many others.
There are those who think these challenges are a waste of time, and those that think they can be an important boost in your photography (including myself because it was once before for me).
But shooting with only one camera and one lens for a year will not work for me because I photograph some for work, and then I use the gear provided by my employer. But I figured I can tweak it so that I publish at least once a day, at least one photo at a time, for the entire year. Vary the equipment, but publish regularly.
The intent is to shoot at least one photo per day, which probably won’t be possible all the time, but to at least publish one per day. So, there will be days when I shoot more than one photo, and others when I don’t shoot any. The idea is that I take a camera with me as much as possible, and shoot my everyday life, but occasionally the phone will have to do.
And here are my rules (set by myself):
- I will vary the equipment I use, but I intend to shoot as much as possible with my main camera, the Nikon Z5.
- I post at least one photograph per day to the site, BlueSky, Facebook and Instagram.
- The photos don’t have to be taken the same day they are posted.
- Photos posted as part of this challenge can be used in other posts on this site or in other situations (they are not exclusive to the competition).
- At the end of each month, I do a post here highlighting some photos from the past month.
I did something similar to this many years ago (archived version), which grew into a blog, which is now gone. Back then, it inspired my photography and got me interested and active again after many years of inaction. I hope that this time I’ll achieve something similar.
