Broken Nikon F100

Posted on 2024-09-132024-09-13 by Magnus

I ordered a Nikon F100 on eBay from a seller in Japan. Today, it arrived broken.

Apparently, it’s a common problem with the F100, that the latch on the back cover is broken, so the back doesn’t say closed.

The camera was described as “Exc+5” and “It works properly.”

Clearly not.

And it was packed really well, so I doubt it got damaged in shipping. But when I look at the pictures in the listing on eBay it looks like the little plastic bits that are gone in the camera I received were there in the camera that was photographed. But it is a bit blurry, so can’t be certain.

Now, I’ve requested a return.

Which is a real shame because I was so looking forward to this camera.

However, in just holding and using it for a few minutes, I’ve realized that the decision to buy a F100 was the right one. It feels excellent to hold!

It’s quite a bit bigger and heavier than the Nikon F75, which was expected. But it’s not until you have it in your hands you can really appreciate it.

So, let’s hope for a swift and good resolution to this.

I can add something strange. The camera was never marked as shipped, and I never received a tracking number. It just showed up.
